Standing against the spirit of Division- (Part 1)

Writer's picture: Lucas SantanaLucas Santana

Reading 1st Corinthians chapter 3:1-4, and we see the Conflict in one of the churches in Corinth. The Apostle Paul was unable to be there in the flesh. But he address this issue head on. There was a contention of showing favoritism towards him and another preacher named Apollos. So it caused division amongst the brethren and sisters in the local gathering/congregation. Paul later on went on to say in versus 5 through 12, Highlighting that it's not about him or Apollos. But But they both are both CO-laborers in God's vineyard. One plants, and one waters. But God gives the increase! It's so sad how we in the body of Christ can "nit pick" and make big issues out of small and petty things. God is not pleased with things like that. The word "devisive" In Merriam Webster is dictionary means creating disunity or dissension. Which also comes from the root word "divide". Which you also get the word "division". We are not to allow people or things to come between us. There is a good type of division which is to separate yourself from things that will hold you back, and hinder you in life. Or, cause you to lose your morals or your way of life. In that case, it is good to divide or separate yourself from that thing(s) or individuals that is holding you back from being what God has called you to be, or has become a stumbling block in your life.
