2nd Timothy 4:1-4 says: 1) I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. Focusing on vs 3-4 this time, we see that many want to be entertained and told things that make them feel good, stay comfortable purposefully living in sin, while attending church, not having their toes stepped on, or bringing about a Repentant heart. These are some of the watered down, sugar toast messages that some people love to hear. Which dumbs down the gospel message and Hurts the listeners. No!! Every message doesn't have to be fire and brimstone. But there should be a well balanced, spiritual diet Of the word of God that we as believers are to feast on. Cowardly preachers won't do what this passage says, because they don't want to offend someone and lose money in the offering plates. But preachers are held to the highest standards. To preach unapologetically concerning the word of God, and never compromise. Not making the word say what we want, but what it is supposed to say. So we can apply it to our lives, and stay on that straight and narrow path!
